Building on a solid foundation
Design Systems
ARCADIAGROUP
the concept
Arcadia started re-platforming for desktop and mobile across all Arcadia brands the year i joined in. The task was to work with the external agency and redesign from scratch all components , then the migration of data would happen. During the transition to the new platform it became apparent that we needed to provide a single source of truth which all design, UX and dev teams could use for building the new UI.
the team / my participation
Each brand was represented by the lead designer who would work directly with the UI/UX team of Arcadia. For as long as the project was running we would hold meetings with the product owners, UX designers and developers, usually working in an agile way; each week we would run scrum meetings and focus on one component or feature.
My role was to lead the Burton brand UI redesign and define the new visual language;
This included designing the new style guide, redesigning all Icons, defining a new grid system to work well with our editorials and homepage and a new colour palette.
I was, also, responsible for designing the new Burton app which was to launch at the same time with the new website. All pages were redesigned and new icons were created in consistency to fit the app needs.
